Highlands School Facts

We use research-based methodologies and multi-sensory approaches to teach our students.  Our faculty members are dedicated and highly trained professionals who instill hope and confidence in students by fostering a positive and nurturing environment.


Half of our school day is devoted to small group instruction with an average class size of 3 in math and language arts. Students work at their pace toward skill mastery.


Our ability to offer individualized instruction to more than 100 students each school year draws families from a large geographical area including Harford, Cecil, Anne Arundel, Howard, Montgomery and Baltimore Counties, Baltimore City, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, West Virginia, Virginia, Dubai.

Did You Know?

Our Hands on Highlands Program is a groundbreaking technical arts program integrated into our students’ weekly experience.


Our new, operational greenhouse is 19' x 24'. This state-of-the-art greenhouse is powered by a solar panel to regulate the temperature in the building and to control the watering cycle for the plants. This greenhouse is part of our Hands on Highlands gardening initiative and brings learning to life. 


Technology is successfully integrated throughout all classrooms with the use of SmartBoards, laptops (Mac and Windows OS), iPads, and the Achiever Pal classroom audio enhancement system. In addition, students are taught to be proficient using apps in the Designing Tomorrow class.


A number of field trips for each grade level bring the curriculum to life.


Some of our program highlights throughout the year include Arts in the Afternoon, Holiday Program, Science Fair, Math Day, History Day, Quarterly Awards Assemblies, Robotics Teams, Spirit Days, Homework Program, Talent Show, Etiquette Luncheon, Field Day, Technical Day, Musicals, and sports activities.


For an additional charge, we offer worry-free Wednesday lunches, delivered by Chick-fil-A and Seasons Pizza


We offer bus transportation from the following stops: Meadowood Regional Park, Cromwell Bridge Road Park & Ride, and White Marsh Mall (rear mall parking lot across from Burger King).
