The Highlands School is an EF Smart School that serves bright and creative students in K-12 with dyslexia, ADHD, and language-based learning differences.
What does it mean to be an EF Smart School? It means we integrate strategies to strengthen weak executive function skills into all of our academic programs.
How do you know if your child may have weak executive function skills? If your child has a hard time with starting or completing tasks, forgets to turn in homework, has difficulty with organization and managing time, or is bright but struggles in school.
Executive Function core skills are taught explicitly in a daily course, which allows students to understand their own strengths and weaknesses. Strategies to improve EF weakness are reinforced and applied to both large and small group settings. This approach gives students the tools they need to become more independent and achieve academic and social success.
Our structured and sequential academic program is individualized for each student, with an emphasis on multisensory instruction.
