DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
JOB SUMMARY: responsible for fostering a culture of philanthropic support and fund development in keeping with the mission and philosophy of The Highlands School, engaging in direct cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major prospects, including individuals, corporations and foundations, identifying partnering opportunities and establishing strong community relationships, leadership in annual giving, special campaigns and planned giving, collaboration in long-range strategic development planning, and coordination of the Development Team (Special Events and Volunteer Coordinator, Grantwriter, Public Relations Specialist and Database Coordinator). The Development Director is a member of the Administrative Team, reports to the Executive Director and works directly with the Board of Directors.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree, leadership experience in fundraising with a track record of successful campaign and major gift cultivation, flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, proficiency with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge a plus, exceptionally strong communication skills (both written and oral), strong interpersonal skills with a genuine interest in people, ability to manage projects and work within deadlines.
